- The Surrey Coalition of Disabled People work together to promote equality of opportunity and independent living for disabled people in Surrey.
- 1st - 30th September deafPLUS Mobile Advisory Service
- deafPLUS provides a free and confidential service to all those who are deaf or hard of hearing, including equipment demonstration, information on lip reading classes, deaf clubs and much more. Latest venue list for Surrey and Hampshire (in PDF format).
- 2nd September Fight to Keep Pedestrian Areas Safe in Surrey
- There has been a pilot scheme in Woking town centre since April 2009, that has allowed cyclists to ride their bikes in what are usually considered as pedestrian areas. Surrey Disabled People’s Partnership (Formerly NWSADP) and other groups strongly feel that introducing Shared Use areas is putting disabled pedestrians and others at risk and making town centres a No Go area for disabled people. If you would like to join others in making a stand against the scheme becoming permanent, please attend Surrey County Council’s Local Committee meeting at Woking Borough Council Civic Offices on Thursday 2nd September from 6pm to 8pm.
- 4th September Liberty Festival 2010 - Trafalgar Square
- Celebrating the contribution of Deaf and disabled people to London’s culture. This year’s festival includes sport, street arts, cabaret, comedy and music. Free admission. At Trafalgar Square from 1pm to 5pm.
- By 10th September Disability-related Harassment Inquiry - EHRC
- The Equality & Human Rights Commission (EHRC) are undertaking an Inquiry into disability-related harassment and how well this is currently being addressed by public authorities. Help them by submitting your evidence of harassment. Evidence can be given by phone, text or e-mail or in your preferred format. Contact details are on the EHRC web site.
- 17th September Losing Patients Forum - Ewell
- You are invited to take part in a losing patients forum being held by Surrey Vision Action Group, SAVI, the Surrey LINk and RNIB. The forum will bring together visually impaired residents, Health Professionals and local representatives to discuss accessible health information in Surrey. The forum will be held at Bourne Hall, Ewell from 10am - 12. Participants will have a chance to share the experiences of visually impaired service users and discuss future solutions. - 17th September The Lightbox Touch Tour & Workshop - Woking
- Blind and partially sighted visitors are invited to join The Lightbox for a touch tour of The Ingram Collection and In Camera: Lord Snowdon which will be followed by a workshop. From 10.30am - 12.30pm. Limited spaces available, advance booking required. Tel: 01483 737 800.

- 29th - 30th September Naidex Exhibition - London
- An exhibition of homecare, disability and rehabilitation equipment and services where you can test, touch and compare the latest products and services to aid independent living. It is being held at the ExCeL in London Docklands, 10am to 5pm on Wednesday and 10am to 4pm on Thursday.

- 5th October Surrey Disabled People’s Partnership AGM - Chobham
- The Partnership are holding their AGM at Chobham Village Hall from 10am to 1pm.
- 13th October A Concert for DisCASS - Godalming
- A celebration in words and music, given by local performers, in support of DisCASS and their work on behalf of disabled people. To be held at Godalming Parish Church from 7.30pm. Contact DisCASS for further information.
- 14th October Just Advocacy’s AGM & Jamboree - Ash
- Just Advocacy are holding their AGM along with a Jamboree at Ash Centre, Ash from 9.45am to 3pm.
- 28th October Surrey Coalition’s AGM - Leatherhead
- Surrey Coalition of Disabled People are holding their AGM at Leatherhead Leisure Centre from 10am to 3pm.

- Mental Health Stakeholder Meetings
- People who use mental health services and their carers in Surrey are invited to attend, expenses paid, a meeting of their nearest mental health stakeholder group and help to improve and develop mental health services locally and across Surrey. Meetings will be held throughout the rest of the year. - Face 2 Face - Parents Supporting Parents
- At Face 2 Face parents who have a child with a disability themselves have formed a network of friendship and support for other parents and carers. Meets every Friday during term time from 9.30am to 11.30am at the Reigate and Redhill YMCA, Redhill and Brooklands School, Reigate. - Orpheus Centre Learning Programme
- The Orpheus Centre helps young disabled people learn independence skills through the performing arts.
- RendezVous ‘Bringing It Together’ Programme
- An opportunity for face-to-face meetings with a range of organisations at the White Lodge Centre in Chertsey.
- Courses and Workshops at Rendezvous
- A wide range of activities and opportunities for people with physical disabilities and for carers at Rendezvous, White Lodge Centre, Holloway Hill, Chertsey.
- These include IT, IT Workshops, Leisure and Life Skills, Health and Fitness, Complementary Therapies, Digital Photography and Creative Arts Workshops.

- Headway Surrey Drop Ins
- Headway Surrey has a new DROP IN for anyone affected by Head Injury every Wednesday from 11 am to 3pm at Rendezvous, White Lodge Centre, Holloway Hill, Chertsey, KT16 OAE
- Headway Surrey are also still running their DROP IN in Guildford every Friday from 10.30am to 3pm, at their temporary centre at 7 Faraday Road, off Woodbridge Road, Guildford GU1 1EA.

- Level 2 Sports Leadership Qualification
- In partnership with Dering, YMCA Redhill is offering to anyone who classifies themselves in any way disabled (including deaf) free 5 day training courses to obtain a Level 2 Sports Leadership Qualification. The programme includes Certified First Aid and /or Level 1 or 2 in a chosen sport, plus support finding volunteer placements and work to put the new skills into practice after the course. Completion will result in recognized and respected qualifications that will enable participants to go on to take further training in order to develop a career in sport. - Surrey Health and Social Care Joint Training Partnership
- Provide a range of one day events which are organised for Carers, people who work within Social Care and Health Care and the voluntary sector. The events range from learning more about the Mental Capacity Act to learning about how the body uses water etc.
- Queen Elizabeth's Foundation Vocational Services
- Based in Leatherhead, Surrey, it provides training on sustainable employment for adults with disabilities, especially those who have been forced to change their career direction through accident or illness. The College offers a range of 12 courses in a range of business, trade and technical subjects, each focused on a job market and leading to a specific qualification.
- Surrey Welfare Rights Unit Training Programme
- A variety of benefits courses. Look at their web site for the latest courses.
- Events for Carers
- These are a selection of events that Action for Carers are providing to carers and people who work with carers within Surrey. There are many other events which take place in Surrey which carers can take part in.
- Expert Patients Programme
- If you live with a long-term illness, why not take control by becoming an Expert Patient? The Expert Patients Programme is a self-management course giving people the confidence, skills and knowledge to manage their condition better and be more in control of their lives. This is a national programme but there are some courses held in Surrey.
- Looking After Me
- This free 6 week course is run by the Surrey Primary Care Trust for adults who care for someone with a long term health condition or disability. As the name implies, the course is about carers making time to look after their own health needs. It aims to help carers take more control of their situation and make a difference to their lives. In particular the course looks at:
- Relaxation Techniques
- Dealing with Tiredness
- Healthy Eating
- Coping with feelings of depression
- Communication with family, friends and professionals
- Planning for the future.

- YNot? Drop-in
- YNot? Drop-in is a service for Young People aged 16 to 25 who may be experiencing barriers to learning and are not in Education, Employment or Training. YNot? Drop-in provides a relaxed and informal atmosphere where Young People, Professionals, Parents, Carers and Personal Assistants are all welcome to attend. Held at the Woking YMCA between 12.30pm - 2.30pm every Monday.
