FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions
Accessible Buses & Dial-a-Ride
In Surrey community transport is provided by demand responsive transport (DRT) and Dial-A-Ride schemes.
Demand responsive buses do not have a set timetable. Their route is determined by the requests of the passengers. Services are open to anyone and journeys need to be booked in advance. All are wheelchair accessible. Buses4U (DRT) run in Mole Valley, Tandridge, Reigate & Banstead, Woking and Farnham. Bustler also covers Woking. The Hoppa service, 01252 727711, runs to Frimley Park Hospital from Farnham and surrounding villages.
The East Surrey Rural Transport Partnership has information about community transport services across East Surrey.
Dial a Ride buses are operated by local councils & Surrey County Council in all areas of Surrey for people with limited mobility. To use the Dial a Ride door to door service there is usually a small annual registration fee & then a fare for each journey made which is comparable to a standard bus fare for the journey. All buses are wheelchair accessible with a tail lift. Schemes need 24-48 hours notice that you wish to travel. If the traveller needs help a companion can travel free on many schemes. Dial a Ride services normally work within the boundaries of the borough or district and do not operate in the evening or at weekends.
The transport provisions of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) are being phased in over a number of years and all buses will be accessible by 2017. Since 2000 new buses must be accessible to disabled people. Bus terminals, railway stations airports and ports must be accessible, as they are covered by the goods and services section of the DDA 1995. Accessible buses are gradually being introduced across Surrey.

People age 60+ are entitled to travel free on buses as are many disabled people.
