Claiming Disability Benefits & Form Filling


Filling forms.

Help and advice is available if you are filling in welfare benefit, Council Tax or Housing Benefit forms which can be long and complex.

To minimize delay in claiming benefits by making sure the correct information is given and to get assistance with completing the forms contact:

The Benefit Enquiry Line, BEL, 0800 882200, send out claim packs and fill in forms over the phone. If you require information in a language other than English they will arrange this on request.

Citizens Advice has offices around Surrey and many will visit you at home if you are unable to visit them.

The Pensions Service assists older people to complete forms for Disability Living Allowance, Attendance Allowance, Carer’s Allowance, Pension Credit, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit. If you live in East Surrey phone 01737 774023 and if you live in West Surrey 01483 442427. This service can be arranged by contacting Surrey County Council 08456 009009

Age Concern Surrey will do benefit checks and can help with the completion of benefit forms.

Form filling is available from local disability information services DICE, DisCASS & DAISE, 01932 248660.

Your local council will help with Council Tax and Housing Benefit forms.

Cherchefelle Housing Association assist individuals with filling in benefit forms. There is a charge, but the service is provided free if funding is agreed by social services.

Other organisations offer form filling to certain groups or in specific areas of Surrey. Form filling may not be available on demand as many depend on volunteers to assist claimants:

Some national support groups for specific disabilities, but not all, will help with form filling if approached. Contact SID, 0800 0439395, for information on national organisations.
