Social Clubs for Adults & Older People

There are a variety of social clubs across the county catering for all interests. Some are purely social clubs, or may be part of another organisation providing a range of different services. Many are for specific disabilities or geographic areas or age groups. SID, 0800 0439395, has information on these. Many day services are run by voluntary organisations. Local councils organise social activities, as do some support groups.

Social activities can be anything from games & quizzes to lunch clubs and outings.

Mental health

MACA, 01737 281044, hold club nights in Dorking for people with mental health issues twice a week.

The Monday to Friday Club, 01252 725003, in Farnham is for people age 18 - 60 with mental health issues.

Learning disability

Oasis Club, 01737 768757, in Redhill is for people with learning disabilities as is the East Surrey Gateway Club (same telephone number).

One to One 01784 446279 is a befriending organisation for people with learning disabilities living in Spelthorne, Runnymede, West Elmbridge & Woking which offers social activities.

The Swan Club, 01784 451123, in Staines, is a social club for people with learning disabilities age 18 and over.

Physical disability

PHAB have several clubs in Surrey for physically disabled people and non disabled people. The clubs cater for various age ranges.

Parkinson’s Disease organised social events for people with PD.

Older people

The borough & district councils run day services for the older people in their areas and social activities are arranged at individual clubs.

Contact the Elderly arrange social gatherings in hosts’ homes for older people who live alone.

Most branches of Age Concern organise social events & meetings.

General

Welmede Activities Service, 01932 577170, in Chertsey is for anyone of any ability who wants to take part in sport, leisure, art & craft and social activities.

Oak Farm Leisure & Activities Club, 01252 502577, in Farnborough is for people age 18 - 35 with any kind of disability.

de Stafford Sports Centre, Caterham have a sports club for teenage and adult disabled people on Friday evenings, 01883 344355.
